Pia Miranda is one of Australia’s most beloved and accomplished actresses, celebrated for her iconic breakout performance as Josie in Looking for Alibrandi. Released 25 years ago, the film became a cultural landmark, and Pia’s portrayal of the intelligent, fiery teenager cemented her place in Australian film history. Her performance won her the 2000 AFI Award for Best Actress and launched a career marked by depth, versatility, and longevity.
Since then, Pia has continued to shine across film, television, and theatre, building a diverse body of work that showcases her range as a performer. Her film credits include lead roles in Garage Days (dir. Alex Proyas), Travelling Light (dir. Kathryn Millard), and The Tender Hook (dir. In 2019, Pia captured the nation’s heart once again when she competed in Australian Survivor: Champions vs Contenders. After 50 gruelling days in the Fijian jungle, she emerged as the Sole Survivor with a unanimous 9-0 jury vote—showcasing her resilience, intelligence, and unshakable spirit.
In November 2023, Pia released her memoir, Looking for My Bella Vita, offering a deeply personal and engaging reflection on her life and career, further endearing her to fans old and new.
Pia is also an accomplished stage actor, having performed with many of Australia’s leading theatre companies.
