Matt Preston is one of Australia’s recognisable and loved personalities. An award-winning food journalist, best-selling cookbook author, radio presenter and international TV personality.

Matt writes a weekly column for delicious in the News Corp metro and mastheads with a reach of over 10.2 million Australians every week and he contributes to Australia’s #1 food website www.taste.com.au with a monthly reach of 5 million food lovers and to Escape Australian’s #1 travel media brand.

Matt has written eight cookbooks that have been best-sellers in Australia and overseas and his memoir Big Mouth was released in November 2023.

Most notably known for his 11-season run on MasterChef Australia and four spin-off formats, Matt has made guest appearances on MasterChef franchises around the world, including MasterChef Italia, MasterChef Holland, MasterChef India, MasterChef Poland, and MasterChef New Zealand. He also co-hosted Plate of Origin on the Seven Network alongside long-time friends Gary Mehigan and Manu Feildel. He was a judge on the US Food Network’s Taste Race, a guest judge on Seven’s My Kitchen Rules.

Matt’s screen presence extends beyond food television, he’s taken on dramatic roles in Aftertaste, Neighbours, Offspring, Lowdown, and The Bold & The Beautiful, and has made memorable appearances on The Masked Singer (as “The Gnome”), Celebrity Gogglebox, and Dancing with the Stars.

And he hosted an episode of the ABC series The Art of...Food, where he explored the question: Can food be art? Most recently he appeared in the documentary series The Hospital: In The Deep End on SBS.

For 3 years Matt was host of the Saturday Weekend Breakfast on ABC Radio 774 and over the last 15 years Matt has been a regular co-host and presenter on many shows including Smooth FM, Nova, the Hit Network and Triple MMM.

Matt is also a key social media influencer in Australia and internationally with a combined international social media reach of over 1m followers on TikTok, Facebook, X and Instagram.

Matt is an ambassador for SecondBite, Australia's leading food rescue organisation that aims to end hunger by ending waste. He works with SCARF on their innovative program to deliver paid hospitality training to vulnerable refugee and migrant communities and he is an ambassador for Epilepsy Action Australia supporting SUDEP, Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy, a cause close to heart, as he lost his younger brother to SUDEP.
